Working at home counts... do you telecommute and miss the social niceties, like janitorial service, finding parking, deadlines, odd smells, personal errands and rude co-workers?

Whether you own or run a company or work for someone else, At Work is a catch-all forum for anything work-related, from office politics, humor and paydays, to very casual dress, really bad bosses and overpowering scents just over the cubicle wall.

I know about office life because I am one of those bosses with a lot of stories to tell from my side of the desk.
Add seeds and articles relating to your job or others' for all to enjoy.

This is a new group just for Work-related articles and seeds.

Just gave you a plug from the new picks article.

Most people ask me to seed less, not more, but I have one I'll publish to this group.

What better place to get your Vine On!? I do 95% of my browsing and writing @ Work, but don't flesh out any story ideas until after hours. What do you do at work (other than Vine)?

I work in the exciting world of investment consulting (for pension plans and 401 (k)s) as an admin...good coworkers, but the topic doesn't interest me, but in this economy, I'll take it :)

And you?

I started a (now) web-based business to make a good living in this part of Calif. for 17+ years now (think Mayberry RFD) , but truly miss big-city TV News and excitement, where I used to be a News Photog. (Phoenix).

What an interesting job! Northern or Southern CA?

San Luis Obispo- about half way from L.A. and S.F., and too far from any cultural influences!
Right in the center of the Northern-most side of coastal Southern California :)

overpowering scents just over the cubicle wall.

Are you spying on me, Nycam? I have this many days, but today is one of the worst ever! There seems to be a cacophony of fumed persons circling my workspace today! The real problem with this, other than the horrid stench, is that one of my HUGE migraine triggers is strong scents! Keeping my fingers crossed that I dont end up with one today!

Good to see you around, sir!

Thank you Vic!
Perhaps lining the cubicle with odoreaters shoe inserts would help mitigate the problem. If not, I would just fill a sock or old pair of chonies with activated charcoal and breathe through it. At least people will keep their distance when they determine that their scents are in vain.

I'm hoping that none of my co-workers ever log onto NewsVine. My avatar shows a current likeness of myself (not to mention that Patricia is my first name)...If anyone ever sees all my comments I've left, I'm in big trouble.

I do have to add that this job is very easy for me. It requires good organization skills, multitasking, ability to work with minimal to no supervision...

Same here, given some of the stuff I've written about. My comments are tame but some of my articles aren't.
